Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival in Your Classroom

Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional festival celebrated every year in China during Autumn. As a Lunar Festival, the date changes each year, depending on the Lunar Calendar but is always on Month 8, Day 15 of the moon calendar in China. That day is always in September or near the start of October. The festival centres around enjoying the full moon and, like all festivals, have special foods to eat and activities that are done during the festival.

The festival is celebrated by the Chinese community around the world and communities across South East Asia. There are differences in the way it is celebrated across different regions, but the unifying factor of the Mid-Autumn Festival is it is linked to the Harvest period and is a holiday that is a time to reflect on family and loved ones, both with you and abroad.
